How to Floss Your Teeth

Have you been wondering how to properly floss your teeth? Look no further than our comprehensive guide below!

Step 1:

Pull about 20 inches of dental floss from the dispenser, break it off, wrap it around the middle fingers and pull tightly over the thumb (upper jaw) or index finger (lower jaw). Use any floss that you can use comfortably. It does not matter if it is floss or dentotape, flavor or unflavored. It is just important to remove the plaque from in between the teeth regularly. In between the teeth should be cleaned thoroughly at least once daily.

Step 2:

Insert the dental floss between the teeth with light sawing motions.

Step 3:

Form the dental floss into a U shape around half of the tooth and clean the interdental space with about five up and down movements; then clean the adjacent half of the next tooth with an additional five up and down rubbing movements. Repeat steps one to three with a new area of dental floss.

Additional Cleaning Aids

When using interdental sticks or brushes before inserting between the teeth, moisten the tip of the dental stick or interdental brush. Insert the stick or brush in between the teeth, touching the gum. Carefully move the stick or brush back and forth to clean between the teeth.

Clean in between the teeth before you clean the outside surfaces. This allows the fluoride in the tooth paste to reach the in between surfaces.
