Dr. Owen Lund

Dr. Owen Lund is a second-generation dentist whose unique journey has brought him back to Northern Nevada and to the profession that first sparked his interest. Born and raised in Gardnerville, Dr. Lund was introduced to dentistry at an early age while working as a dental assistant in his father’s practice. Before ultimately returning to dentistry, he pursued several other passions, including archaeology, skiing, and sports massage. These diverse experiences broadened his perspective, shaped his approach to patient care, and helped define the dentist he is today.

Dr. Lund earned his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a minor in Archaeology from the University of Nevada, Reno. He worked as an archaeological field technician before spending several years in the ski industry, where he became a Level III Alpine Ski Instructor and a snow sports supervisor and trainer. He later became a licensed sports massage therapist.

Dr. Lund earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Oregon Health & Science University in 2019 and has since practiced comprehensive dentistry in Oregon and Minnesota. His clinical experience includes restorative, cosmetic and implant dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery and Invisalign. Most recently, he worked in a technology-focused practice incorporating same-day CAD/CAM restorations, digital scanning and laser dentistry.

Committed to continuing education, Dr. Lund has pursued advanced training in endodontics, dental implants, bone grafting, sinus lifts and Invisalign. He is also a member of the Spear Study Club, where he continues to study complex cases and advances in dentistry.

Dr. Lund believes great dentistry is about more than technical expertise. It’s about listening to patients, earning their trust and helping them feel comfortable and confident in their care. Dr. Lund returned to northern Nevada and joined Brooks Family Dental in 2026.

Q & A WITH DR. LUND

What do you love most about dentistry?

I love getting to know my patients, hearing their stories and learning about their lives and interests. Some of the best parts of my day happen when we get talking about something completely unrelated to teeth! Those genuine connections are what life is all about, and I feel lucky to build friendships with people I treat. Turning those relationships into meaningful care and helping to improve someone’s health and confidence is what makes this career so fulfilling. Whether it’s reinforcing good preventative habits, replacing missing teeth, creating a full smile makeover, or taking care of routine fillings, there’s nothing better than knowing I’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life.

What can patients expect when they see you?

You can count on a friendly, patient, and empathetic approach when you land in my chair. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and being yourself. I’ll take the time to listen, explain your options, and work with you to find the best path forward. My goal is for you to feel heard, cared for, and confident in your dental health.

Where is your favorite place to ski?

I spent three years teaching skiing in New Zealand at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables. I still dream about those deep powder days and the incredible scenery, and I’m hoping to make it back someday! Here in the Sierras, I love strapping on my backcountry skis for a good hike and to explore new routes. That said, Kirkwood will always be a favorite.

How did you get into juggling?

My mom went to clown school in her early twenties! For my 6th birthday, she showed up in full makeup as “Tinker the Clown,” performing magic, making balloon animals, and juggling. I had absolutely no idea it was her! When the makeup came off and I discovered “Tinker” was my mom, I was beyond impressed. She taught me the basics of juggling, and I’ve been at it ever since.

What do you enjoy most about being back in Northern Nevada?

The weather is a whole lot better here than the Midwest, that’s for sure - and way less insects haha! But honestly, I’m thrilled to be back home. Being close to family and raising my kids in the place I grew up means a lot to me. Northern Nevada has so much to offer, from the mountains and outdoor adventures to the people who make this place special. It feels good to be home!
